Taipei, May 20, 2008 (CENS)--Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADSE) announced yesterday (May 19) its decision listing Taiwan ETF (Exchange Trade Fund) by the end of this year, a move likely to trigger other exchanges to follow suit, including Singapore, Hong Kong, Thailand, and Warsaw.
The spate of Taiwan ETF listings is likely to induce indirect investments in Taiwan stocks by foreign funds to the tune of some NT$50-70 billion, according to domestic securities investment trust firms.
The Taiwanese EFT to be listed on ADSE is likely to be issued by Polaris Securities Investment Trust, focusing on blue-chip and high-yield stocks.
Liu Chung-sheng, president of Polaris Securities Investment Trust, confirmed the enthusiasm listing Taiwanese ETFs among foreign securities exchanges, such as Singapore Stock Exchange which has relaxed conditions for Polaris to issue
ETF there. Polaris plans to list Taiwan ETF on the Singapore Exchange in September this year, at the earliest.
