Taipei, Oct. 19, 2009 (CENS)--Genius Electronic Optical Co., Ltd. (GSEO), a major optical lens and light-emitting diode (LED) maker in Taiwan, recently announced its winning of Apple`s order for the camera lens used in the new iPod.
The company would begin shipments to Apple in Oct., GSEO chairman Chen Tian-ching said, with monthly shipment volume to exceed one million units. GSEO would also begin small-batch shipments of handset camera lens to Apple`s iPhone 3GS in the second half of this month, he added, and monthly shipment volume is also expected to gradually rise.
GSEO has been aggressively deploying in China`s LED street-lamp market. The Taiwan company is targeting the high-potential markets in big Chinese cities such as Xiamen, Beijing, Shanghai, as well as others in Shangdong, Guangdong and Sichuan etc. provinces.
GSEO is headquartered (with an R&D center) in the Central Taiwan Science Park (CTSP) and produces lenses mainly at its plant in Xiamen, Fujian Province of China. The optical group`s monthly production volumes for plastic and glass lenses are 15 million and one million units, respectively.
