Quanta, Compal May See November Sales Hit Historic High Record

2009/12/10
Taipei, Dec.10, 2009 (CENS)--Taiwan`s top-two contract manufacturers of notebook personal computers, including Quanta Computer Inc. and Compal Electronics Corp., will see their November sales hit historic highs.

Institutional investors estimated Compal`s sales revenue for November to break the NT$90 billion (US$2.79 billion at US$1:NT$32.2) mark and Compal between NT$74 billion (US$2.29 billion) and NT$75 billion (US$2.32 billion). Compal will witness monthly shipments and sales in November hit an all-time high record and outperform Quanta as Taiwan`s largest NB contract manufacturer for seven times since the beginning of this year.

Another leading contract manufacturer of NB-Inventec Corp. has announced it registered NT$34.15 billion (US$1.06 billion) in November sales, up 10% year-on-year. The company attributed the double-digit sales growth to the increased shipments in servers and NBs. Thanks to the growth in shipment of servers, Inventec will score higher gross profit margin in the fourth quarter than the preceding quarter.

Quanta is currently the world`s largest contract manufacturer of all-in-one (AIO) PCs which embrace bigger unit prices than NBs. Accordingly, it will be very difficult for Compal to catch up with Quanta in terms of sales, rather than shipment amounts. Quanta`s biggest clients include such top-tier brands as Apple, Hewlett Packard, Acer, and Lenovo.
