Taipei, May 12, 2010 (CENS)--To rev up production of notebook PCs, Singapore-headquartered Flextronics International Ltd., a globally leading EMS (electronics manufacturing service) provider, has decided to recruit over 1,500 new workers in Taiwan in the upcoming few years, according to the firm.

Having actively explored the market for outsourced production of notebook PCs in recent years, Flextronics saw the business contribute around NT$150 billion (US$4.76 billion at US$1: NT$31.5) to the total revenue last year, and expects the contribution to double this year. With HP and Dell on its client list, the firm is scheduled to start delivery of three new models to its clients starting this month and projects its notebook PCs shipment at about 6 million units for entire this year.

To respond to the quickly growing business, the firm has recruited 42 Taiwanese engineers, and is going to add over 1,500 workers to expand its workforce for production of notebook PCs. Presently, the firm runs three manufacturing factories engaged in production of notebook PCs, desktop PCs and servers, respectively, in Taiwan.

In addition to Taiwan, the firm also runs a number of manufacturing bases in 30 different countries of the world, with a majority located in emerging countries, such as Brazil, China, Hungary, India, Malaysia, Mexico, Poland and Ukraine, to take advantage of cheap labor, land and material costs. The firm highly praises Taiwanese engineers for their royalty to a corporate, and plans to willingly incubate them for its sustainable development in the business of notebook PC manufacturing.
