List of Taiwan's Most Profitable Companies in 2011 Unveiled

Taipei, April 13, 2012 (CENS)--In 2011, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) was recognized as Taiwan's most profitable listed company in terms of total after-tax net income while HTC Corp. performed the best in earnings per share (EPS).

TSMC, the world's No.1 supplier of built-to-order chips, scored NT$134.2 billion (US$4.4 billion at US$1: NT$30) in after-tax net income last year. HTC, currently the world's No.7 supplier of mobile phones, netted NT$73.32 (US$2.4) per share.

Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., Ltd., was No.2 most profitable listed company in Taiwan last year in terms of total after-tax net income, making NT$81.5 billion (US$2.7 billion). HTC was No.3 with total income of NT$61.9 billion (US$2 billion).

Others on the 2011 top-10 list of Taiwan's most profitable listed companies include Chunghwa Telecom Co., Ltd., whose total after-tax net income was NT$47 billion (US$1.5 billion); Formosa Plastic Corp. (FPC), NT$35.7 billion (US$1.1 billion); Formosa Chemicals & Fiber Corp., NT$32.9 billion (US$1 billion); Nan Ya Plastics Corp., NT$23.1 billion (US$771 million); Quanta Computer Inc., NT$23 billion (US$768 million); Formosa Petrochemical Corp., NT$22.4 billion (US$749 million); and China Steel Corp., NT$19.4 billion (US$649 million).

In terms of EPS, Largan Precision Co., Ltd. was No.2 best profit performer, earning NT$38.76, followed by Giga Solar Materials Corp.'s NT$23.4. Others on the top 10 EPS list include Asustek Computer Inc., St. Shine Optical Co., Ltd., HIWIN Technologies Corp., Catcher Technology Co., Ltd., and Phison Electronics Corp.,
