This year at the Guangzhou International Lighting Exhibition, Gia Tzoong Enterprise Co., Ltd., a Taiwanese printed circuit board (PCB) veteran established in 1988, exhibits a series of thermal-conductive metal core PCBs (MCPCBs) for LED lighting and backlight.

The company's MCPCBs fall into four categories: aluminum core, copper core, polished mirror aluminum, and blendable aluminum.

The aluminum-core category is composed of single-side, single-layer boards; single-side, double-layer boards, double-side, single-layer boards, double-side, multi-layer boards; and countersink-hole boards. These boards are applied with thermal-conductivity bonding material rated at 1-8W/mK.

Its copper-core category contains finished boards in thickness of 3.5mm, 4-oz concave-cup boards, concave-cup boards, copper-pedestal boards, and side-wall sliver-plated boards.

The company's polished mirror aluminum feature 95%, 96%, and 98% illumination reflective ratio. Its bendable aluminum boards are available in thickness ranging from 0.45mm to 2mm.

The company's LED MCPCBs are mostly made for chip-on-board (COB) packages, with minor portion for flip-chip packages.

Thermal-conductive MCPCBs have replaced boards for PCs and consumer electronics as the company's major revenue earner of 70-80%.

The company has set up integrated manufacturing capability for its boards of various applications, including mass lam, layer stacking, and prototyping, enabling cost reduction while boosting defect-free output. (KL)
