Regular loppers require a lot of pressure to make a single cut however, this ratchet mechanism's step-by-step approach requires only a fraction of that pressure.
Open the handles completely to position ratchet mechanism correctly.
Slide the branch to be pruned firmly under the blade, close the shears and begin cutting
(approx 1/3")
Release pressure with right hand to allow shears to open slighty, so as to allow the pawl to engage with the next notch.
Repeat this operation until the branch is cut.
