CENS Stays Busy Promoting Trade and Magazines Globally in May

CENS continued to participate in global trade fairs in May to promote its services and publications, helping Taiwanese manufacturers explore world markets via events such as Metaltech, BrasilPlast, National Hardware Show, Interpack, TTM Automotive Technology Fair, Lightingfair International, Chinaplas, Interzum, Indoautomotive, and International Building & Construction Trade Fair.

Metaltech 2011
Metaltech is the venue-of-choice for professionals in manufacturing in search of products, services and information, as well as being the perfect place for manufacturers to network, build business with customers and suppliers.

Metaltech 2011, held May 4-8 at the Putra World Trade Center, Kuala Lumpur, attracted 1,500 exhibitors across 30,000 square meters, drawing over 25,000 visitors.

The displays mainly consisted of CAD/CAM systems, prototyping systems, metal cutting machine tools, sheet metal processing & metal forming, moulds & dies, metrology equipment, forging & fastening equipment, robotics, industrial automation, factory automation, process automation etc.

The CENS booth promoted a variety of trade magazines, with “Taiwan Machinery” and “Taiwan Industry Suppliers (TIS)” capturing ample attention among visitors and buyers.

BrasilPlast
BrasilPlast, established in 1987, is an international plastics industry trade fair held biennially in Brazil and has grown into a leading event in South America.

About 245 million tons of plastic products are produced globally, 2% or 5.1 million tons of which are made in Brazil, whose output surged 20% last year due to economic recovery.

The 13th BrasilPlast, held May 9-13 at Pavilhao de Exposicoes do Anhembi, Sao Paulo, attracted 1,300 exhibitors from 30 countries and about 65,000 visitors from 60 countries.

The event exhibited mostly machinery, equipment & accessories, tools & moulds, instruments, controls & automation, synthetic resins, basic inputs & assorted chemical raw materials, plastics processors, and services & technical projects.

CENS sent a local representative to promote its buyer guides, with “Taiwan Machinery,” “Taiwan Industrial Suppliers (TIS),” and “Taiwan Exports Guide to Emerging Markets” stopping ample foot traffic.

National Hardware Show
The 66th Annual National Hardware Show, held May 10-12, 2011 in the Las Vegas Convention Center, lived up to its reputation for generating buzz, deal-making, and best practices.

Attendance this year grew an additional 4% on top of a 20% increase last year, with exhibitor bookings for 2012 already up 16% from a year ago, reflecting confidence in the event.

“We are so pleased to hear all of the great feedback from attendees and exhibitors who successfully identified products and services to move business forward. The increased attendance and buying create a strong foundation for 2012,” said Ed Several, senior vice president and general manager of the National Hardware Show.

The show was mainly categorized into several sectors for hardware & tools; lawn, garden & outdoor living; paint & accessories; homewares, plumbing &electrical; and storage & organization.

Interpack
Interpack, held May 12-18 in Dusseldorf, Germany, is one of the world's most important trade fairs for the packaging sector and processing industries. This year's event drew 2,700 exhibitors from 60 nations to exhibit their latest products at 19 fully-booked halls of the Dusseldorf trade fair center, in which sustainability, safety and convenience were the overriding themes.

Exhibitors reported encouraging meetings with professionals, many of whom inquired about specific orders, with potentially lucrative follow-up business to be expected.

The visitor survey confirms the impressions of exhibitors, with significantly higher proportion of decision-makers this year over the previous fair being reported: An exceptional and nearly three quarters of trade visitors are in management.

Over 100,000 or 60% of 166,000 trade visitors came from abroad, reflecting the event's high global representation.

TTM Automotive Technology Fair
TTM Automotive Technology Fair 2011, held May 12-15 at Poznan International Fair Center, Poznan, Poland, hosted 300 exhibitors and over 10,000 visitors, with the event organized jointly by Poznan International Fair and the Association of Automotive Technology, and supported by the Ministry of Economy and Ministry of Infrastructure.

The highlight of the TTM event was the demonstration area “The Living Workshop,” where spectators viewed first-hand working mechanics, operations of modern diagnostic equipment, and repairs of aluminum rims, which presented the latest techniques, equipment used by automotive professionals.

A wide range of automotive equipment was displayed, including those for car repair, bodywork and painting, as well as testing and measurement devices, parts and components, accessories, cleaning and maintenance equipment.

CENS promoted a variety of trade magazines, with “Taiwan Transportation Equipment Guide (TTG)” and “China Transportation Equipment Guide (CTG)” proving quite popular with the visitors.

Lightfair International
As the world's largest annual architectural and commercial lighting trade show, Lightfair International is a mix of continuing education courses and innovative products ranging from high-end design to cutting-edge technology.

The 22nd Lightfair International, held May 17-19 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center, Philadelphia, broke all records for attendance and venue space. The three-day fair attracted 474 exhibitors, including 59 first-timers. The 23,709 attendees from 75 nations also shattered all records.

The organizer set up a user-friendly LFI Mobile App to allow attendees a paperless, convenient way to track program schedules and events. In addition, the new Spotlight Lounge treated attendees to works by iconic lighting designers as Ingo Maurer, without the inconvenience of leaving the showground.

Chinaplas
Chinaplas, an international plastics and rubber trade show held alternatively in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province and Shanghai, China. Chinaplas, fueled by the synergy from the growth of China's plastics and rubber industries for nearly 30 years, has evolved into a distinguished business platform for such industries, also contributing to their development.

Chinaplas, not only the largest plastics and rubber trade fair in Asia, but is also widely recognized by professionals as one of the most influential exhibitions in the plastics industry globally.

Chinaplas 2011, held May 17-20 at the China Import & Export Fair Pazhou Complex, Guangzhou, set a new record of 180,000 square meters of venue and having attracted 2,441 exhibitors from 34 countries.

Increasing steadily in scale yearly, Chinaplas has in recent years been widely recognized by the industry as the world's No. 2 trade event of its kind. This year's show attracted 94,084 visitors for a 15.5% growth over last year's figure, 20.27% of which being overseas visitors, and most of whom engaged in automotive, building & construction, chemicals & raw materials, pharmaceuticals, E&E, IT & telecommunication, food & beverage, hand tools, machine manufacturing, mould & die, packaging, plastics, rubber and toys industries.

Interzum
Interzum, a leading global event for suppliers to the furniture and interior construction industries, is where the trends, visions that create future living spaces using modern materials, outstanding design, and exclusive innovations come to life.

Interzum 2011, held May 25-28 at the Cologne Exhibition Center in Germany, registered 13% more visitors and 8% bigger venue to reflect its success. With 52,400 trade visitors from 147 countries, the event grew 13% relative to the previous event in 2009, with global representation having risen sizably by 24%.

The mood at this year's Interzum was very conducive, with many exhibitors able to make new contacts and build business, and with visitors given the opportunity to see an overall view of what is available.

Some 1,434 companies from over 60 countries exhibited at Interzum 2011, with 378 suppliers from Germany and 1,056 from abroad. Italy was the most strongly represented country with 276 firms, followed by Turkey with 88 companies. The exhibitor number rose almost 6% relative to the 1,356 in the previous event in 2009. The venue grew by 8%, with the number of halls totaling 10 or one higher than that in 2009.

The exhibitors reported satisfaction with the quantity and quality of visitors, who also were encouraged by the comprehensive product range in Cologne.

The quantity and quality of visitors have improved. “People from all over the world are here in Cologne to see new products, which proves our effective marketing and also the recovering economy,” said Tony Garrett, president of Global Systems Group/ Machinery and Leggett & Platt Inc.

“We had many visitors at our booth, partly due to new products triggering a lot of curiosity in the run-up to the fair, and we were also delighted to welcome so many potential new customers, especially architects and interior designers. Our motto for 2011 Light creates contours was very well received,” said Michael Lindner, sales division of GERA Leuchten GmbH.

The 4th Indoautomotive, held May 25-28, 2011 at the Jakarta International Expo in Indonesia, is a key platform for trade professionals and industry players to exchange ideas, forge ties, assess and compare product competitiveness, and identify partners to build business performance and profitability.

This year the fair displayed the latest in automotive and motorcycle parts, including accessories, tuning parts, maintenance and service station equipment and more.

As many insiders and observers believe the global automotive industry is increasingly attracted towards Asia, with China being a pivotal market, and India and ASEAN also being significant. While the Indonesian automotive industry looks promising, motorcycles are still the preferred mode of transportation.

The CENS booth was manned by a local representative who promoted the always popular “Taiwan Transportation Equipment Guide (TTG)” and “China Transportation Equipment Guide (CTG)”.

International Building & Construction Trade Fair
The 2011 International Building & Construction Trade Fair, held May 25-28 at Expo Theme Pavilion, Shanghai, China, covered a wide range of products.
