Eminent Relieved to See Returning Workers After New Year

2014/03/13 | By Judy Li

Eminent Luggage Corp., a major Taiwanese  luggage manufacturer, is relieved to see employees of its plant in Dongguan, Guangdong, China return to work after the long Chinese New Year holidays for the possible labor shortage that beset many Taiwanese enterprises in the province.

Headquartered in Gueiren, Tainan, southern Taiwan, Eminent has been making luggage for more than two decades and has operations on both sides of Taiwan Strait, with 70% of its products made in its Dongguan plant backed by about 1,800 workers, a third of whom from other provinces. So the company worries that the migrant workers may not return after the Chinese New Year holidays.

The New Year break has impacted output, with Eminent's revenue falling  6.8% month on month to NT$260 million (US$8.67 million) in February, down 23.54% year on year.

Nevertheless, the company's production lines are fully booked throughout the end of May with increasing orders from major clients including Tumi, Hugo, Boss, Delsey, Benenton, Hello Kitty, Ferrari and CK.

Eminent offers a wide range of luggage, bags, suitcases, vanity cases as well as wallets, belts and travel accessories that are made of ABS, PP, PE and many different kinds of soft materials, with output sold globally to Japan, Europe, North & South America, the Middle East, South Korea, and Southeast Asia.
