The Tainan City Government is accelerating a new phase of industrial globalization as global supply chains continue to restructure. The “Global Economic and Trade Cooperation Promotion Plan 2026” has therefore officially launched, aiming to integrate local industrial strengths and assist Taiwanese enterprises expand into international markets through exhibition participation, business matchmaking, and on-site exchange programs.
The initiative seeks not only to increase the global visibility of local Tainan industrial products and brands, but also to create more competitive growth opportunities for local enterprises.
Tainan Mayor Wei-che Huang noted that amidst market dynamics, companies seeking sustainable growth must actively diversify and expand their international market presence. Rather than encouraging firms to compete independently overseas, the city government is promoting a collaborative export model centered on “joint exhibition participation, targeted business matchmaking, and in-depth engagement.” By entering global markets as coordinated industry groups, companies can strengthen brand visibility, connect directly with international buyers, and improve the conversion of business opportunities into long-term commercial partnerships.
The initiative adopts an integrated “three-in-one” framework. From pre-event market alignment, product showcasing and business negotiations during exhibitions, and post-event company tours, this end-to-end approach is designed to foster sustainable international collaborations.
According to the Director General of Bureau of Economic Development, Tainan City Government, Ting-yuan, Chang, this year’s program will focus on three export sectors with strong international growth potential: gifts and home products, plastics and rubber, and automotive components. The city has selected several major international exhibitions as strategic entry points, including the InterPlas Thailand exhibition in Bangkok in June, the Tokyo International Gift Show in Japan, and Automechanika Frankfurt in Germany this September.
Each event is expected to feature six to ten selected Tainan-based companies, leveraging shared marketing resources and collective branding to amplify international exposure and market impact.
Director General Chang added that Tainan manufacturers already have established product quality and technological advancement. Through structured international expansion programs, local companies can increase exposure and form partnerships, creating a more dynamic two-way industrial ecosystem.
City officials emphasized that Tainan is evolving from a traditional manufacturing base into a strategic hub within the global supply chain. Through industrial internationalization and investment promotion, the city aims to establish a comprehensive export and collaboration ecosystem. Looking ahead, Tainan plans to deepen engagement with global markets, promoting local brands while strengthening its role as an investment hub for companies expanding across Asia.
