2009/12/16 | By Quincy Liang

Taipei, Dec. 16, 2009 (CENS)--Inventec Corp. of Taiwan recently announced plans to step into the high-potential cloud-computing business, and will provide software download online by the year-end, as well as moving into online gaming in 2010.

Typically keeping low-profile, Inventec instead this year participated the first-time in the Infomonth 3C (computer, communication, and consumer electronics) exhibitions around the island, promoting products feverishly.

Chiu Chuan-chen, president of Inventec's software business division, pointed out that his company has been cultivating the software business for more than 10 years and now is the right time to commercialize products. Inventec's software business would first focus on two major fields, including the intelligent learning and healthcare, while keeping an eye on online gaming.

Inventec chairman and CEO Richard Lee claimed that the group's system (notebook PC), enterprise service (server), and software businesses are now the three major revenue generators. Over the next three years, he added, software sales are expected to account for 10% of the group's overall income.
