Taipei, Sept. 13, 2010 (CENS)--A delegation of over 60 executives from 20 Taiwanese high-tech manufacturers recently set out for the United States to recruit talents in Silicon Valley and Boston at a time when unemployment rate in the U.S. remains high.

The delegation was led by the Minister without Portfolio J.F. Chang of the Executive Yuan, Taiwan’s Cabinet. Members include representatives from Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC), MediaTek Inc., Chimei Innolux Corp., Delta Electronic Inc., Asustek Computer Inc., Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., Ltd., United Microelectronics Corp., Macronix International Co., Ltd., AU Optronics Corp., and Global Unichip Corp.

As many hi-tech talents remain unemployed in the U.S. in the wake of the global financial crisis, the Taiwanese manufacturers hope to find quality talents more easily than before in the U.S.. The talents that the delegation was hunting for were specialists in six sectors including photovoltaic, optoelectronics, materials, and biotech.

Delegation members planned to offer a total of 1,200 jobs covering R&D specialists, market researchers, market managers, and accountants.

The delegation was accompanied by a cloud-computing alliance, which would visit Intel, Microsoft and IBM.

In fact, Taiwan government-backed organizations like Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), Institute for Information Industry (III), and National Applied Research Laboratories as well as academic institutions including National Chengchi University, National Chengkung University, National Yang-Ming University and China Medical University are also planning to hunt for talents overseas.
