Global buyers of lighting and building materials are invited to attend the Myanmar International Lighting Exhibition (Myanlighting) and Myanmar International Building Material, Hardware & Tool Exhibition, both of which will make their debut on Dec. 4-7 this year at the Myanmar Convention Center in Yangon.

Over 125 exhibitors from 13 economies—Taiwan, mainland China, South Korea, Hong Kong, Austria, Germany, Myanmar, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore, Italy, and Malaysia—will display their latest products in 260 booths covering a total of 8,000 square meters at the shows.

Prominent exhibitors will include ABBA Aluminum, Luxo LED, BUCK, Yun Yang, Unilamp Thai, Performance in Lighting, Hyundai Aluminum Korea, Inbo Solar Lighting Electrics, Hsin Kuang, Greenjoy Homn Reen, Mega Master, Jaw Yi, Josef Krenn, Hans Tool, Spinntek International Flooring, D&B Builders Hardware, Korea Hot Fix, and Chun Yu Group.

The two shows are co-organized by the China Economic News Service (CENS), Yorkers Trade & Marketing Service Co., and Myanmar Industries Association (MIA). The Republic of the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce & Industry is the official backer, and the shows are sponsored by the DYNA Compressor Co. of Taiwan.

Exhibitors from mainland China, Italy, South Korea, Taiwan, and Thailand will show off their products in national pavilions.

The lighting fair's floor is divided into zones for advertising lighting, commercial lighting, household lighting, LED & green lighting, outdoor lighting, smart lighting & solutions, parts & accessories, testing & certification, and trade services & publications.

At the building material show, the floor is categorized into tool & accessory, lock & fitting, fastener & fitting, building supplies, garden & outdoor equipment, automotive supply and accessory, machine & plant equipment, safety equipment & product, bathroom & kitchen, building technology, ceramic, stone & marble, door & window, indoor decorative materials, building and decorative hardware, ceiling & curtain wall, coating & chemical, home, and office & outdoor accessory zones.

Myanmar has a population of over 60 million and a territory of 678,850 square kilometers. The country also enjoys membership in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), which has total population of over 600 million.

Approximately 80% of the lighting and building materials Myanmar needs are supplied from foreign sources. The country's market for lighting and building materials has huge potential for growth over the next five years because infrastructure projects such as roads, railways, bridges, and transportation networks will increase exponentially to keep up with the brisk demand from public housing, private residences, offices, malls, and hotels.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) predicts that Myanmar has great potential for future economic growth based on the 5.5% expansion of its gross domestic product (GDP) in 2011, when the country opened its market to foreign investors, and an even bigger increase of 6.3% the following year. The IMF forecasts that the country's economy will continue to grow at the 2012 rate, or even better, over the next five years.

To take advantage of the potential of the Myanmar market and meet its strong tourist demand, the American Hotels Group, Hilton Worldwide, Best Western International Inc., Belmond Ltd., the Hong Kong-based Shangri-La Group, and Singapore's Pan Pacific Hotel Group have established footholds there.

The co-located shows constitute the most convenient one-stop shopping platform in Myanmar for lighting and building materials buyers in pursuit of the latest technologies and high-value-added products. There they will find countless cutting-edge innovations, product,s and services, and learn about the latest applications for lighting and building materials. (KL)
