Taiwan's Sanyang Industry Co., Ltd. (SYM brand) will challenge an annual global production goal of 800,000 units this year, a record high for the firm.
In addition, Sanyang will begin exporting the first batch of over 500 TrackRunner 200cc all terrain vehicles (ATVs) late this month to France. The firm aims to ship about 10,000 such vehicles this year.
Sanyang president Huang Kung-wu expressed great confidence that Sanyang's powered two-wheeler (PTW) plants in Taiwan, mainland China and Vietnam can together ship over 800,000 units this year. Of the total, about 230,000 units will be sold in Taiwan to capture a 33% share of the domestic PTW market. Exports to Europe are estimated at 100,000 units this year.
After gaining a solid foothold in traditional PTW business, Sanyang demonstrated its first ATV product, the TrackRunner, at the Munich motorcycle show in September 2004. The firm will concentrate more on ATV sales this year, according to Huang.
