Plas Alliance Ltd. Is one of Taiwan's most professional manufacturers of bag-making machines and other related machine models, sold under the firm's own "PAL" brand. Since its establishment in 1988 the firm has not deviated from its all-out efforts to maximize the diversify of its product lines, its talented in-house research and development unit seeking to meet all the special requirements of its customers around the world.
Management states that the firm employs a flexible production mode that guarantees the timely filling of orders--even rush demand. Its production flexibility also enables it to keep up with the ever-changing global plastics and rubber arena.
The company's major product lines are bag-making machines, extruders, extrusion equipment (including whole-plant solutions), and extrusion units for tubular film (again including whole plants). Unit selling prices range from US$15,000 to US$90,000. The company is now developing a vest-bag whole-plant line comprising bag-making, printing, and sealing machines.
With a factory of 19,800 square feet located in Minhsiung Township in Chiayi County, southern Taiwan, the company is now set to launch construction of a new, bigger plant nearby. The new facility, to occupy a land area of 82,800 square feet, is to be completed by the middle of 2006.
Plas says it is capable of rolling out special machines according to customers' requirements. In addition, the company also cooperates with foreign customers in developing innovative dedicated models.
The ISO9001:2000-certified company says it has been striving to roll out CE mark-approved machinery to help customers seeking to market their products to the 25 nations of the European Union. The company states that its products have been sold to more than 50 nations worldwide.
Over the past three years, says Sammuel Chiu, president, the firm has attained 20% sales growth annually. Despite a slowdown in sales of capital goods worldwide over the past year, the company still saw its sales growth hit 20% to reach NT$180 million (US$5.84 million at US$1:NT$30.8) last year. Chiu attributes this success to an aggressive marketing strategy undertaken to diversify export outlets.
The company's major export outlets are Latin America, Eastern Europe, Thailand, Turkey, and Russia. Chiu says his company has a big market share in Latin American and Eastern European nations, where it has operated for over two decades.
To expand exports, over the past five years Plas has been active to take part in world-renowned exhibitions. This year it will showcase its innovative products in international plastics and rubber shows to be held in Dubai in March, Bogota in October, and Istanbul in November.
