Class Technology Co., Ltd. Is promoting two attractive new lighting products. One is an infra-red sensor which turns lights on when moving objects are detected. The other is a three-in-one emergency lamp.

The sensor, 22 millimeters wide, 41 mm long, and 38 mm in height, has a maximum detection distance of six meters and a maximum detection angle of 140 degrees when mounted on a wall. When mounted on a ceiling the angle is 360 degrees.

The sensor works with various types of lamps, including fluorescent and incandescent. The device is powered by regular wall outlets ranging from 90 to 130 volts, and can be used with lamps up to 300 watts.

The versatile model can be set to activate lamps only at nighttime, daytime, or at all times. It is patented in the United States and Taiwan.

The company's three-in-one emergency lamp is dubbed the "921" to commemorate the devastating earthquake that hit Taiwan Sept. 21, 1999. It is patented for its gradual recharging and its three-in-one functions--a night lamp, emergency lamp, and flashlight. The gradual recharging function allows the lamp to always maintain full energy status.

The lamp, in a computer-mouse size and look, is equipped with a tungsten bulb and a light-emitting diode (LED). When working as a night lamp, the tungsten bulb, which boasts a lifespan of 12,000 hours, is lit up. When serving as an emergency lamp or flashlight, the LED bulb is lit. The effective lighting distance is six meters when used as a flashlight or an emergency lamp.

The lamp is powered by three No. 4 batteries.

Class Technology ships the two products under the firm's "Class" brand name. The company began in 1975 as a manufacturer of corded telephones, later diversifying into the production of remote controllers for garages. It began rolling out lighting products a few years ago.
