Taipei, Dec. 26, 2003 (CENS)--Compal Electronics Group is estimated to score revenue of NT$340 billion (US$10 billion at US$1 = NT$34) for 2004, up near 50% from this year's NT$230 billion (US$6.77 billion), according to S.H. Hsu, chairman of the Group.

Among the Group's affiliates, Cal-Comp Electronics (Thailand) Corp. and Compal Communication Inc. are expected to see their revenues shoot up 70% next year and Acbel Polytech Inc. and Toppopy Optoelectronics Inc. to grow by more than 50%.

Cal-Comp used to be the Group's overseas processing plant and has in recent years expanded its operations to cover production of telecom products. The company recently received a large order for "Bluetooth" earphones from a leading U.S. mobile phone maker, and the order is believed to help boost the company's revenue in the coming year. Today Cal-Comp's international clients include Hewlett Packard (HP), Matsushita, Motorola, NEC, Nikon, Western Digital, etc.

Cal-Comp is listed firm in Thailand and one of the top three exporters there. Next year the company is expected to ship three million cell phones and 70,000 Bluetooth earphones. And this year it is expected to net US$695 million in revenue and the figure is forecast to jump to US$1.2 billion in 2004.

Compal Electronics Inc., the flagship of the Group, is projected to see revenue of NT$160 billion (US$4.71 billion) in 2003, and Kinpo Electronics Inc. US$13.5 billion (US$397.1 million). Both firms have strong R & D teams, and they are consigned to help the group develop commonly used pivotal parts and integrate the operations of other sister firms.

So far the group's products include a wide range of notebook computers, computer peripherals, optoelectronic products, semiconductors, Internet services, and telecom devices. To meet the world trend, Hsu said, the group would expand its products to application devices for digital home in the near future.

He further predicted the group's revenue to grow rapidly to NT$470 billion (US$13.8 billion) in 2005, which is the goal set at the 30th anniversary this year.
