Taipei, Nov. 4, 2003 (CENS)--The Computex Online has became Taiwan's largest B2B (business to business) website following seven years of operation, according to Taipei Computer Association (TCA).

TCA said that Computex Online, the specific website constructed for the annual Taipei International Computer Show (Computex Taipei, one of the world's top-three computer shows), attracted 3.33 million international buyers to browse the website and recorded 100,000 buyers' contact information in the first half this year. The online mechanism is effectively helping the Computex Taipei show to expand business opportunities.

Affected by the severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) epidemic in Taiwan in the second quarter this year, according to TCA, the Computex Online's exhibition and procurement mechanisms attracted record high visitors in the first half, much higher than about two million visitors last year. TCA said that the Computex Online currently has a total of 3,027 registered companies posting information of 7,706 new products on the website, making it a major B2B website in Taiwan.

To further exacerbate the importance of the on-line exhibition in the post-SARS period and to boost foreign buyers' procurement from Taiwan through the on-line exhibition and transaction platform, TCA invited several dignitaries to give speeches on relevant topics in Taipei, including Nobuyuki Idei, Chairman and CEO of Sony Corp.; Kai Hsiao, director of Hewlett-Packard Co. (HP)'s Asia international procurement office; and Simon Lin, chairman of Wistron Corp.

TCA said that the 2003 Computex Taipei was delayed to September from June due to the SARS but during the SARS-prevalent period the on-line exhibition and business emerged as a substitute for the traditional face-to-face business contact mode.

The association added that the visitors to the Computex Online have been increasing in the past seven years, coming from over 100 nations with majority in the United States, Germany, the U.K., Japan and the Middle East etc. In the past few years, TCA said, the number of click-and-view times all surpassed 50 million per year.
