Taipei, Aug. 28, 2003 (CENS)--A high-profile delegation composed of government officials and e-services business leaders will leave for the U.S. on Sept. 7 to familiarize qualified Taiwan firms with U.S. technologies and expertise.

The delegation, to be led by Minister without Portfolio Tsai Ching-yen and Chairman Lin Chia-cheng of the Cabinet-level Research, Development and Evaluation Commission (RDEC), will first fly to the Greater Seattle area before proceeding to Philadelphia and Washington, D.C., the Commercial Section of American Institute in Taiwan announced yesterday in a press release.

In addition to the government sector such as the RDEC and the National Information and Communications Initiative Committee under the Cabinet, the Washington State Office in Taipei and the Taipei Computer Association are also supporting the mission.

Private-sector delegates are from Taiwan's high-tech fields of logistics services/solutions, financial services and banking, network services, systems integration, e-business, information security, retailing and information technology-related manufacturing.

The mission will visit leading U.S. high-tech firms, including Microsoft Corp., IBM, and HP.

At the moment, quite a few Taiwan information technology firms are shifting resources to e-services and are seeking U.S. suppliers, technology partners as well as facilitating strategic alliances and setting up joint venture activities in Taiwan.
