Kwang Yang Motor to develop 700cc motorcycle engines

Taipei, March 4, 2003 (CENS)--Kwang Yang Motor Co. said yesterday it would invest NT$250 million in the research and development of high value-added motorcycles such as 700cc and up motorcycle engines for the European market.
Kwang Yang expects to deliver 13,000 units of large engine displacement motorcycles per year.
In 2001, Kwang Yang debuted its first 250cc heavy duty motorcycles in the local market. Such sales have totaled 27,000 units over the past two years.
Kwang Yang is scheduled to introduce its 700cc twin cylinder engines in early 2004. With a 60 horsepower, it can reach the highest speed of up to 170 kilometers per hour.
The price of the new motorcycle will be set at about NT$210,000 per unit.
Kwang Yang will use its own brand "Kymco" for the new product.
