Senao obtains orders for wireless network cards from SonicWall

Taipei, May 21, 2003 (CENS)--Senao International Co. said yesterday that it has a NT$300 million order for wireless network cards from SonicWall, the third-largest network security integration supplier in the U.S.

With the recent order from SonicWall, Senao expects its delivery of wireless network cards will grow over 100% in the second quarter from the first quarter. Senao estimates to deliver a total of two million wireless network cards in 2003, with revenue to reach about NT$1.3 billion from such products.

A listed company in Nasdaq, SonicWall has started the development from network security to the wireless network field. Its newly developed 802.11b mini-PCI wireless network modules will be offered by Senao in the near future.

Executives at Senao said that the firm would further expand its cooperation ties with SonicWall. Senao expects to soon deliver its high power 802.11b mini-PCI modules to SonicWall.

In the first quarter, Senao delivered 100,000 units of wireless network cards, or contributing revenue of NT$150 million. In April alone, the firm obtained a new order for 100,000 units from South Korea and gained revenue of about NT$100 million.

The firm's revenue ratio for distance wireless telephones and wireless network cards has climbed to 15%.

Senao raked in revenue of NT$1.27 billion in April, the highest figure of the year and up about 30% from the same month a year earlier. Its revenue totaled about NT$4.7 billion in the first four months, with pretax profit reaching NT$138 million for earnings per share (EPS) of NT$0.73.
