2009/04/07 | By CENS

The Automechanika Istanbul show and its conference Automechanika Academy return to the TUYAP Fair, Convention and Congress Centre April 16-19 April, 2009 in the historical city of Turkey.

This reportedly dynamic, comprehensive event for the automotive industry has grown in the number of exhibitors, the volume and buying power of visitors, and degree of industry recognition.

Five main product categories will be shown at the Automechanika Istanbul, including the newest IT & Management (tech solutions for dealership planning and construction, dealer management systems and marketing); Parts & Systems (parts and components for powertrain, chassis, batteries, bodywork, vehicle interior and entertainment options for the interior); Accessories & Tuning (performance systems, optical tuning, trailers and tires); Repair & Maintenance (workshop equipment and tools, painting and anti-corrosion protection, accident assistance, waste disposal and recycling); and Service Station & Car Wash (filling station solutions, cleaning products, oil and lubricants and consumables).

Higher Attendance Expected

The biennial trade event, organized for the fifth time by Hannover-Messe International and Messe Frankfurt Istanbul, broke its records for number of exhibitors and trade visitors in 2007, which saw more than 658 exhibitors from more than 30 countries, and more than 29,100 trade visitors from 83 countries. The 2009 event is expected to see higher numbers of exhibitors and visitors.

Automechanika Istanbul has sustained its level of growth and expansion despite challenges to the global economy; while the high export volume of parts and components supports the growth in manufacturing, distribution and sales, according to show officials.

More than 15 automakers operate in Turkey, including: Ford, Renault, Fiat, Toyota, Hyundai, Honda, Mercedes, Mitsubishi, Isuzu, Peugeot, Iveco, Otokar, MAN, BMC and Askam.

Automechanika Istanbul boasts high global presence: foreign exhibitors made up 41 % of the total in 2007, when the international pavilions included ones from Germany, China, England, France, Singapore, Taiwan etc.

The official visitor survey done in 2007 showed more than 43% of visitors were entrepreneurs; and over 48% of the visitors were executive purchasers.
