Metaltech Industrial Co., Ltd. successfully developed a magnesium-lithium alloy in 2007 backed by teamwork of experienced experts and researchers in-house.

The Mg alloy has been winning increasing attentions in recent years for its advantages as low density (only 1.8 g/cubic cm compared to 2.7 for Al alloy), superior strength and rigidness, better tactile sensation, recyclability, better heat-dissipation, higher heat-resistance, electromagnetic interference (EMI)-resistance, and better shock-absorption etc.

Metaltech claims to have improved on the existing: having developed a brand-new Mg-li alloy that can be mass-produced under non-controlled conditions, with the new alloy's density being only 1.5g/cubic cm. The advantage of the new alloy is versatility: being able to be directly stamped into products rather than die-cast as conventional counterparts.

This Mg-Li alloy is ideal for making high value-added 3C (computer, communication, and consumer electronics) housing, high-end sporting goods, EMI-shielded electronic parts, aerospace parts, Li-ion battery cathode, and others.

Metaltech has self-developed a high-end ratchet wrench with the new alloy, saving weight by 50% relative to traditional counterparts' while meeting the DIN, ANSI standards.
