China's Kunshan to Cooperate With Giant in Building a Bike-Friendly City

Taipei, April 12, 2010 (CENS)--Kunshan City, in China's Jiangsu Province, will join hands with Giant Manufacturing, the world's leading bike maker headquartered in Taiwan, in developing the city into a low-carbon and bike-friendly city, said Guan Aoguio, the city mayor, yesterday (April 11).

Guan made the remark during a cycling tour, on a Giant bike, of Sun Moon Lake, in central Taiwan's Nantou County, in the company of King Liu, Giant chairman. Currently on a visit to Taiwan. Guan pledged to organize a cycling tour group to visit Taiwan, as part of the city government's plan to have 20,000 Kunshan citizens traveling to Taiwan this year.

King Liu noted that Giant Travel Agency, a Giant subsidiary focusing on domestic and overseas cycling tours, may organize a cycling tour of Yangcheng Lake in Kunshan in October, during the harvest season for the renowned Hairy Crabs. The lake boasts a 160-kilometer cycling path.

King Liu reported that Giant Manufacturing has decided to invest NT$36 million in a cycling project in Kunshan, including factories of bicycle, bike frame, carbon fiber, and auto bike, as well as cycling paths and a cycling theme park.
