AU Optronics Showcases Solar Tech at Intersolar in Munich

Taipei, June 10, 2010 (CENS)--AU Optronics Corp., a major thin film transistor-liquid crystal display (TFT-LCD) panel manufacturer in Taiwan, is exhibiting at the 2010 Intersolar in Munich, Germany (from June 9-11) a series of innovative solar technologies.

After the integration of vertical supply chain in just over a year, AUO has achieved many industry-leading technologies in solar upstream and downstream value chains. It is the only manufacturer that can integrate all technologies at once in the solar industry, AUO says.

The products AUO showcases in Munich include high-efficiency EcoDuo mono-crystalline solar modules, EcoDuo PM220P00 multi-crystalline solar modules, and first debut of "Smart Module". Intersolar has become the largest solar technology and product trade show in Europe, attracting many well-known manufacturers.

AUO debuts industry-leading "Smart Module". A particular layer of thin-film is coated on the surface of "Smart Module" that can reduce reflection to increase ray transmission and the power generation of Photovoltaics (PV) module. Besides, this thin-film has self-cleaning ability to dissolve foreign particles on PV module, so that the surface of PV module remains clean, achieving reduced reflection to increase light transmission, reflection at various incidental angles.

AUO claimed that it is the only "Total Solutions" provider in solar business, offering many industry-leading technologies in the vertical supply chain. In terms of poly-silicon, AUO now collaborates with M. Setek to obtain high-quality poly-silicon and solar wafers on the upstream side to produce the solar cell wafers with the highest efficiency.
