CENS Represented at Three Trade Shows in August

2010/10/13 | By CENS

To keep promoting export-trade magazines and help advertising clients who are manufacturers, exporters and traders build global presence, CENS sent representatives to attend three international trade shows in August, including the 2010 International Woodworking Fair (IWF), Moscow International Motor Show (MIMS) and 2010 Japan DIY Homecenter Show (Japan DIY 2010).

2010 IWF

Though the 2010 International Woodworking Fair (IWF) was smaller and attendance lighter-a reflection of stressed wood products markets due to still recession-impacted housing, home furnishings, case goods and architectural projects-most exhibitors expressed satisfaction with the sales achieved and quality of business leads generated.

This year the biennial show, held Aug. 25-28 at the Georgia World Congress Center, Atlanta, Georgia, U.S., drew nearly 11,000 woodworking professionals in addition to thousands of exhibit personnel manning more than 950 booths occupying two of the center's trade halls. Although the booth attendance and number of exhibits were substantially lower than the last IWF in 2008, when nearly 19,000 attendees visited 1,324 exhibits, most exhibitors this year expressed satisfaction with the fair.

Advances in wood manufacturing technology clearly played the starring role at the show, with several surprise appearances by new software and even some new technology in wood processing itself. Woodworkers take for granted seeing advances in machinery at the IWF and were not disappointed this year, where 5-axis CNC routers appended to articulated arms, coating lines programmed to avoid overspray, materials-handling robots feeding band saws, and laser imaging and engraving took mechanical sophistication to a higher level.

A recurrent theme at IWF has been the need to help woodworking businesses to establish more efficient process manufacturing at their firms, with adoption of software applications a necessity. Such computerization enables automated CNC cutting machinery to be readily integrated into comprehensive business management systems, which allow capture from orders and designs to be fed directly to production equipment.

Tim Peters of Compx Timberline expressed great satisfaction with the quality and quantity of sales leads his company generated at its booth. "Leads have picked up over the past couple of major woodworking shows we have shown at," Peters said. "We're pleased with quality of leads and the response to our new Stealth product line at IWF."

CENS assigned a local representative to promote its publications at the show, with Taiwan Machinery and Taiwan Industrial Suppliers (TIS) catching ample attention among visitors and buyers.

MIMS 2010

MIMS 2010, organized by Automechanika Moscow, took place Aug.25-29 in the Crocus Expo International Exhibition Center, Moscow, Russia and drew over 750 exhibitors, including major international and Russian manufacturers and distributors, such as, BAW Motor Corp., Bilight TC, BOR Glassworks AGC, Formula Sveta, Banner Batterien, Contitech, IHR, GS Global, NAHLE, Schaeffler Russland, Vaieo Service etc.

The exhibitions also included national and regional pavilions from Italy, Belarus, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, China, Thailand and France, with the French pavilion showcasing 11 leading French manufacturers, namely, Axon Cable SAS, Gillet Outillage/Kamatec, Klaxcar France, Daher CIS, GNFA, SNR Roulements SA, Cinetic Machining, KCEI International, Trucktechnic France, Aubert & Duval, and Accor Lubrifiants.

In the current climate where the auto parts sector is still sagging in North America and western Europe, many companies are looking towards Russia and Eastern Europe to build opportunities. This year the five-day exhibition featured auto parts and components from all over the world, with exhibitors competing to secure their share of the lucrative Russian market, where demand is growing alongside rising disposable income and consumers expect more reliable components and exciting features that are often associated with international brands.

Over the past 18 years, MIMS has become a vital source of contacts and information for those involved in the automotive industry, giving them the opportunity to compare quality and cost of products from a wide variety of companies.

CENS sent a senior representative to promote its trade magazines, with Taiwan Transportation Equipment Guide (TTG), China Transportation Equipment Guide (CTG) and Taiwan Motorcycle and Parts Guide (TMG) capturing considerable attention among visitors.

Japan DIY Homecenter Show 2010

The Japan DIY Homecenter Show 2010, held Aug. 26-28 at the Makuhari Messe, Chiba, Japan, attracted 435 local and foreign exhibitors, up 45 from the previous year's, spread across 945 booths, up 72 from the last staging, despite the relatively stagnant Japanese economy that has seen exports struggle due to the strong yen.

The name of the trade fair is somewhat misleading for even sporting goods, stationery and camping equipment were on display. The three-day show covered virtually everything needed to furnish a home from inside to outside, including goods for one's family car, as well as power tools, hardware, ironmongery, repair materials, painting & coating materials, electric & lighting equipment, electric home appliances, bathroom & kitchen equipment, working wear & materials, ecological equipment, tableware, interior materials & home furnishing, handicraft items, pet-care items, healthcare products, building materials, gardening & agricultural materials etc.

It was the ideal setting for CENS, for its variety of trade magazines served well the diversity of buyers at the Japan DIY. The local CENS representative promoted a range of publications at its own booth, including CENS Furniture, CENS Hardware, CENS Lighting, Guidebook to Taiwan Hand Tools, Design and Innovation in Taiwan (DIT), Taiwan Transportation Equipment Guide (TTG), Taiwan Motorcycle and Parts Guide (TMG), Taiwan Industrial Suppliers (TIS) etc., each of which found plenty of interested professionals.
