Simplo Aims to Unseat Sanyo as World's Largest Battery Pack Supplier in 2011

2010/12/07 | By Steve Chuang

Taipei, Dec. 7, 2010 (CENS)--Having secured Securing orders from Asus, Lenevo and Sony, the Taiwan-based Simplo Technology Co., Ltd., a supplier of notebook PC battery packs, aims to take over Sanyo’s No. 1 position in the line in 2011, according to industry sources.

Simplo has commanded a 22-23% share of the global market for notebook PC battery packs, only next to Sanyo’s 24%. However, institutional investors indicated that Simplo, with orders from new customers serving as a growth drive, is very likely to boost its market share to over 30% to outpace the Japanese competitor in 2011.

Asus has reportedly decided to place more orders with Simplo in 2011, when 50% of the former's needed battery packs will come from the latter. Simplo is allegedly to start delivery to Asus in the first quarter of the year.

In addition to Asus, Simplo will also ship battery packs for use in commercial notebook PCs to Lenevo and Sony starting in the second quarter of 2011, confirming strong growth momentum in its shipment for the year.

Institutional investors also mentioned that Simplo will surely benefit from the rise of tablet PCs in 2011, as the firm has already become part of supply chains of Apple's iPad and Rim's Playbook.

The firm has scored an EPS (earnings per share) of NT$9.74 for the first three quarters of this year, and is expected to achieve NT$13 for the entire year. Hopefully, the firm will continue enjoying such rosy profits in 2011.
