Taipei, Feb. 24, 2011 (CENS)--China Guodian Group, one of China's five-largest state-run power-generation conglomerates, is seeking cooperation with Taiwan's Formosa Plastics Group to build gearboxes for wind turbines and carbon-fiber blades through Formosa Heavy Industries Corp.

With new energy among China's 12th five-year national economic development plan, China Guodian is set to drive the development of wind power.

China Guodian's core business includes the development, investment, construction, operation and management of power generation, and sales of power and heat, as well as being involved in the investment, construction, operation and management of related businesses as coal, power generation equipment, new energy, transportation, high-tech, environmental protection, technological services and consultancy.

China Guodian currently has three national-class laboratories, three technology and science institutes, seven technology development centers involved in 21 major national technology development projects.

FPG said the development of renewable energy is limited by day light, wind power and location, with power storage systems being critical in developing renewable energy as wind power.

The group's Formosa Energy & Material Development Co. is focusing on the development of lithium iron phosphorous oxide cathode material to help the group's green-energy business.
