2011/03/02 | By Steve Chuang

Taipei, March 2, 2011 (CENS)--Obviously rallying back from the financial tsunami of 2009, the Taiwan-based Advantech Co., a large-sized manufacturer of industrial embedded computers and systems, raked in NT$23.04 billion in combined revenue for 2010, sharply up 50% from 2009 to hit a new high, according to the firm's financial statement.

Also, the firm reported net profits of NT$3.04 billion for the year, representing a sharp increase of 73% year-on-year, with full-year EPS (earnings per share) amounting to NT$6.1 and the operating margin improving to 39.1%.

To keep the banner growth, the firm this year will set up several business units in different cities of China to intensify sales promotion in mainland China. In addition, the firm will also establish a new R&D center in Kunshan City, Jiangsu Province, which is scheduled to be operational in 2013. Hopefully, the firm's sales in China will double in the next two years.

Meanwhile, the firm will also kick off construction of its second manufacturing base in northern Taiwan by the end of this year, in which production lines will be better integrated.

The firm has planned to set up more SBUs (strategy business units) to step up exploring the segments. In the next five years, the firm added, the number of SBUs will increase to 50 to fuel its business growth.

Plus, the firm, which has been capable of supplying wireless sensor networks, and related data collection equipment and embedded computers, is poised to explore the quickly-growing segment for the Internet of Things, a trendy concept of networked interconnection of objects that is believed to sway the industry in the coming decade, noted the firm.
