Taipei, March 3, 2011 (CENS)--BenQ Corp., a leading Taiwanese vendor of monitors, plans to achieve a yearly growth of 50% in its monitor sales to rank among top two brands in Taiwan this year, according to company sources.

Around 1.3 million monitors were sold in Taiwan last year, with Asustek Computer Inc. commanding a 30% share as the largest vendor, and Acer Inc. No.2 with a 17-18% share.

Ambitiously fitting itself in the top-spot battle, BenQ has unveiled its newest LED-backlit monitor, which is built with VA LCD panel and an ergonomic adjustable base. With a dynamic contrast ratio reaching 20000000:1, the monitor can detect environmental light sources and then automatically adjust brightness. Ergonomically designed for better visual comfort, the product is especially targeted at office workers.

With the 24-inch monitor as its sales booster, the firm noted that demand for large-sized models have been on the rise in the Taiwan market in recent years, and projected sales of 24-inch and above models to increase to contribute 26% to the total in 2011, and those of 19-inch and below models to decline to a 25% share. But, models with screen sizes ranging from 20 to 23 inches will remain the mainstream in the market this year.

Noteworthily, the firm confirmed that all of its LCD monitors promoted in the market will feature LED backlights starting in the second quarter of this year.

In addition, the firm will also focus promotion on 3D monitors this year. Although 3D models contribute less than 5% to the overall monitor sales in Taiwan at present, the firm is optimistic about prospects of the segment, and expects such products to account for 40% of its total shipment this year.
