Taiwan's Machine-tool Firms Flooded With Q2 Orders

Taipei, March 14, 2011 (CENS)--Thanks to the economic recovery, Taiwan's leading manufacturers of machine tools, including Tongtai Machine & Tool Co., Goodway Machine Corp., Hiwin Technologies Corp., Shieh Yih Machinery Industry Co., Falcon Machine Tools Co. Taiwan Takisawa Technology Co. and Airtac International Group, all posted outstanding sales in the first two quarters of this year, with order visibility through to the end of the third quarter.

Hsu Hsui-tsang, chairman of the Taiwan Association of Machinery Industry, said the ECFA (economic cooperation framework agreement) effect and the successful 2011 Taipei International Machine Tool Show have helped to flood leading domestic machine-tool firms with orders in the second quarter.

Taiwan Takisawa registered NT$419 million in sales in the first two months of this year, up 46.72% from NT$285 million in the same period of last year. Falcon scored NT$207 million in first-two-month sales, up 168.25% from NT$77.52 million. Shieh Yih posted NT$292 million in sales in the first two months of this year, up 108.16% year-on-year from NT$140 million.

Airtac saw first-two-month sales grow 47% year-on-year to 162 million renminbi. Hiwin scored NT$1.797 billion in sales, up 98.43% from NT$905 million. Goodway had cumulative sales of NT$212 million in the first two months, up 16.07% year-on-year from NT$183 million.

Victor Taichung Machinery Group registered NT$939 million in sales in the first two months, up 52.42% year-on-year from NT$616 million.

The TAMI said 80-odd machine-tool firms from Taiwan will take part in the 2011 Beijing International Machine Tool Show, scheduled April 11-16.
