Universal Well Unveils Feature-packed E-Scooter

Green scooter has 45kph maximum speed and 13-degree hill-climbing capacity.

A new, innovative all-electric motorcycle, the Pioneer 1.5, may more than reinvent the wheel, but actually redefine consumers narrow view of "two-wheel light electric vehicle" (LEV).

Pioneer 1.5 is the work of Universal Well Industry Co., Ltd., a young Taiwan-based maker of electric vehicles that adopts many industry-leading ideas and concepts, all of which sufficiently appeal to global riders who want to buy green vehicles for a sustainable ecology.

Multi-functionality

The Pioneer 1.5's intelligent propulsion system offers two riding modes-ECO and SPORT-enabling extra-long range (up to 70 kilometers at 30 kph) as well as sporty riding for performance-minded riders. Powered by a 48V, 36Ah lithium-ion battery pack contained in a finely-finished aluminum housing, this LEV is rechargeable anywhere via wall outlets, with all the connectors also designed for rough riding, being military-grade to resist dust and water.

The scooter has a powerful 1,500W DC brushless motor for maximum speed exceeding 45 kph and 13-degree hill-climbing capacity.

For excellent stopping power, the scooter has dual hydraulic disc brakes with 220mm front and 190mm rear discs, dual two-piston, high-performance calipers. Such braking power is key for experienced riders know that "a scooter is only as safe as its braking capacity."

Richard Hsieh, the president, claims that the Pioneer 1.5 also has a built-in system to prevent unintended acceleration.

According to Hsieh, the firm's R&D department is very proud to have built this new e-bike. Unlike most light e-scooters, the Pioneer 1.5 is very practical, able to cruise at 20 kph, climb 13-degree inclines with a 75-kg rider, which enables usage over most terrain, even gently rolling topography. And merging with traffic is also safe with the 6.5 sec. 1-to-50 kph time, which allows riders to keep up with most cars, especially considering that many sporty sedans can only reach 60kph in about 7 seconds or so.

Other features include residual-battery indicator, built-in recharge warning, patented rear swing arm for better steering and extended drive chain life.

Still other user-friendly features include options as side bags to hold A4-sized paraphernalia, and a storage for a full-face helmet with LED warning light.
