Taipei, Feb. 10, 2006 (CENS)--After receiving recent approval, Taiwan' s first filament weaving industrial zone, located in Yunlin County, central Taiwan, is sparing no effort soliciting related enterprises to move into the new area.

The zone has a total of 174.9 hectares of land available for sales or rental, with 131 hectares to be appropriated for manufacturing plants and the remainder for waste processing plants, commercial circles, and residences. Taiwan Filament Weaving Development Co. (TFWD) is in charge of 65-70 hectares of the land available for manufacturing plants, since it has been authorized by the Industrial Development Bureau (IDB) under the Ministry of Economic Affairs for the development of the zone.

Chiu Chang-hsing, president of TFWD, disclosed that so far, about 15 textile manufacturers have decided to move into the zone, in addition to the branch of the Taiwan Textile Research Institute (TTRI), which has already broken ground for the construction of its buildings, and is slated to be completed early next year.

TTRI is planning to take five years to develop its branch in the zone with a total investment value of NT$600 million (US$17.65 million at US$1 = NT$34). The branch' s operations will be focused on the development of high-end textile materials, precision manufacturing equipment, and new garment designs.

The 15 manufacturers that intend to operate in the zone include China Man-made Fiber Corp., Li Peng Enterprise Co., Tai Yuen Textile Co., Universal Textile Co., Ho Yu Textile Co., Zong Sine Industries Inc., Yu Yuang Textile Co., and Jung Cheng Industry Co.
