Hiwin’s Monthly Sales Hit Historic High in August

2011/09/29 | By Ben Shen

Taipei, Sept. 29, 2011 (CENS)--Hiwin Technologies Corp., Taiwan’s leading manufacturer of linear-motion devices and ball screws, scored NT$1.335 billion in sales in August, surging 77.1% year-on-year or up 8.2% from the preceding month for a historic high.

Institutional investors predict Hiwin’s annual sales to exceed NT$14 billion this year based on the maker’s steady production capacity increases in its plants in the Taichung Precision Machinery Park and Yunlin Technology Park, central Taiwan.

Hiwin registered NT$8.985 billion in cumulative sales in the first eight months, up 88.75% from NT$4.76 billion year-on-year.

Eric Y.T. Chuo, chairman of Hiwin, says the maker’s products are extensively used in the machine tools, aerospace, solar energy, semiconductor, medical, biotechnology and communications sectors. The company is upgrading manufacturing processes to widen product range.

Despite slightly slumping sales of Taiwan-made universal machine tools, Hiwin still saw sales growth in the first eight months due to successful development in Europe, where the automotive, aerospace and medical industries are still growing.

Hiwin said it has become the second-largest brand in Europe, only behind Germany’s STAR, and expects to see sales in Europe grow 3% year-on-year this year.
