Industrial Computer Maker Advantech Targets US$2 B. Revenue by 2018

2014/01/08 | By Quincy Liang

Advantech Co., Ltd., a major  industrial-computer maker in Taiwan, targets the booming Smart City and IOT (Internet of Things) application market for its business development in the next 30 years, said chairman K.C. Liu at the company's year-end party to celebrate the 30th anniversary.

Thanks to expanding applications of Smart City, Advantech's 2013 revenue is expected to hit a record high of about US$1 billion, a mark which Liu said indicates  Advantech 's maojor global status. The maker in fact announced previously its goal of achieving annual revenue of US$2 billion over the next five years.

Chaney Ho, Advantech's president, said that as of the morning of December 27, 2013 his company's global consolidated revenue has outstripped US$1 billion, the best performance ever.

Liu made two wishes for his company's future development. The first is to build Advantech into a globally leading supplier to the Smart City and IOT applications, and set up a paradigm for the two industries. The second is to make Advantech a lucky and altruistic enterprise.

For further expanding market share, Advantech has been aggressively acquiring counterparts in 2013. The firm recently announced acquiring the U.K.-based GPEG International, a major supplier of intelligent displays solutions.

Industry sources said that thanks to the strong demand from Smart City and recovering U.S. and European markets, most major industrial-computer makers in Taiwan are optimistic toward 2014 operations, with some expanding capacity.
