Joen Lih has recently released high-precision grinders for processing silicon wafers. The models is mostly similar in design to vertical grinders. A diamond grinding wheel is fitted to the floating spindle, and the machine performs vertical grinding on hard and brittle workpieces requiring the highest degree of surface accuracy and flatness.

The grinders also handle products of ceramic, quartz, glass and minerals. The machines' air-floating spindle has a motor capable of 1,000 to 5,000 RPMs. A powerful Fanuc Oi-series controller provides full digital control, with the spindle traversing a maximum of 300 mm per minute.

Other standard components for the wafer grinder include ceramic vacuum suction table, spindle temperature controller, vacuum pump, and tool box. The temperature controller employs an efficient plate-type heat exchanger and has a comprehensive safety protection device.

Optional components include precision air dryer and height gauge. The dryer removes dust from workpieces with compressed air and comes with a highly accurate pressure and temperature control.

The wafer-grinders are engineered and manufactured to the highest industry standards starting from raw castings right up through quality testing to ensure optimal surface grinding accuracy and finish.

Primary markets for the wafer-grinders are Southeast Asia, the United States, and Canada.
