Taiwan's Johnson Leads Global Exercise Equipment Brands by Retail Store Number

2014/05/08 | By Steve Chuang

Following years of efforts on outlet expansion worldwide, Taiwan-based Johnson Health Tech Co., Ltd., a globally leading supplier of fitness equipment with its eponymous brand, now has 233 retailers, compared to 225 early this year, to be the world's largest brand.

Of the total, 218 are in Asia, including 57 in Thailand, 5 (under Fitness Resource brand) in Washington D.C., 2 in Italy, and 1 each in Spain and Brazil.

Johnson says that it plans to open roughly 50 new retailers this year, including 10 in Taiwan, 20 in China and 4 in Italy, while distributing household fitness equipment in smaller cities in China to further expand sales network.

Meanwhile, Johnson has actively built footholds in the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) bloc. After setting up sales counters in the department stores operated by the Thailand-based Central Retail Corporation recently to boost retailer number from 52 early this year to 57, the Taiwanese brand has joined hand with the partner to open more retailers in Vietnam, where Johnson has two stores each in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

By opening more retail stores along with launching new products, including a leg massage machine specifically targeting females to tap sales booms brought by Mother's Day, Johnson is quite optimistic about outlook in the first half of this year, expecting to boost its share for leg massager to 10% in Taiwan soon.
