Over 80% of Taiwanese Youths Intend to Work in China: 104 Job Bank

2014/07/15 | By Judy Li

A survey by the 104 Job Bank, an online recruitment service provider in Taiwan, shows that more than 80% of the polled 30-and-under without full-time work experience intend to find jobs in China and 50% are willing to take entry-level positions.

Some 2,200 job seekers and 1,300 of the Bank's member enterprises were surveyed in Q1, 2014. The survey shows that youths mostly 26-to-30 would accept jobs offered by Taiwanese enterprises who intend to hire in China, with preferred places of employment being Shanghai, Beijing and Guangdong Province.

The main reason for Taiwanese youths wishing to work in China is relatively higher pay, which differs from that in 2012, when the respondents emphasized acquiring work experience and knowledge of the job market there.

Average annual pay of Taiwanese working in China is reportedly around NT$660,000 (US$22,000), about 1.36 times of that in Taiwan. Depending on job level, average annual pay of junior supervisors in China is NT$990,000 (US$33,000), with that of mid- and senior managers being NT$1.3 million (US$43,333) and NT$1.58 million (US$52,667), respectively.
