Taipei, Aug. 1, 2006 (CENS)--Taiwan's Primax Electronics Ltd. Has reportedly won a big-ticket contract order for about one million Bluetooth headsets this year from Nokia, but the company refused to comment on the reports.

Industry sources said that Primax would begin big-volume shipment of the headsets in the third quarter of the year with a monthly delivery of over 150,000 units.

Primax began producing Bluetooth headsets in the fourth quarter of last year and shipped hundreds of thousands of such headsets in the last few months. Industry sources pointed out that each stereo Bluetooth headset is priced at about US$22 and Nokia's new order is expected to effectively ramp up the company's revenue in the second half.

Thanks to Nokia's new order, Taiwan Securities Co. estimated that Primax is expected to ship about four million Bluetooth headsets this year.

Primax withdrew from digital-camera production last year and ventured into the production of multi-function office machines. This year, Bluetooth and MP3 player accessories will be the major revenue-growth engine.

According to Primax, Bluetooth, MP3 accessories, and computer-mouse products are expected to account for over 50% of its total revenue this year.
