Hon Hai's September Revenue up 51% MoM to NT$415 Bn.

2014/10/21 | By Steve Chuang

Fueled by strong shipments of iPhone 6, Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., Ltd., world's largest EMS (electronics manufacturing service) firm by size and Apple Inc.'s major contract manufacturer of iPhone, saw consolidated revenue for September surge 51% month-on-month to NT$415.412 billion (US$13.84 billion), the highest for the month in its history, according to its latest financial statement.

The consolidated revenue also exceeds by 23% last September's, adding to its cumulative consolidated revenue of NT$2.713 trillion (US$90.43 billion) for the first nine months of this year, up  3.4% year on year.

Media reports agree that the newly launched iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are driving Hon Hai's  revenue in the month. The firm indicated that among its three main lineups, namely consumer electronics, PCs and communication devices, the shipment of consumer electronics that include iPhones, showed the briskest growth in September.

Institutional investors say, with iPhone 6 being shipped in rising volume to Apple since September,  capacity utilizations at its factories in China remain high, so Hon Hai is very likely to finish Q4 with stronger performance than Q3. The firm's consolidated revenue in Q4 will likely near NT$1.4 trillion (US$46.67 billion) to reach an all-time high.

More good news for Hon Hai is that Apple aims to restructure  iPhone 6 shipments to include more iPhone 6 Plus, proven popular with consumers worldwide mainly for larger screen size, which will surely benefit the Taiwanese firm for being the exclusive contract supplier for the hot-selling device.

Apple's reported launch of the new iPad in October will also drive  shipment by Hon Hai, also contracted to supply the tablet, in the remainder of this year. (SC)
