New TAITRA Chairman Liang Commits to New B2B Platform

2014/11/07 | By Judy Li

Francis Liang, who took up the position of chairman of the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) just over a month ago, has declared his intention to build up a completely new B2B Internet platform to serve TAITRA's clients and help them further develop the global market.

With over four decades of trade-promotion experience, TAITRA today has a workforce of more than 1,000 persons and over 60 offices around the world. Liang emphasizes that TAITRA, being Taiwan's top government-backed trade promoter, has to upgrade itself and keep up with the global e-commerce trend by providing e-trade services to manufacturers on the island.

Liang reveals that the projected B2B platform will be designed in reference to similar platforms adopted by Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Singapore, the U.S., and the EU. The platform will provide content not only in Chinese but also in other languages.

In his determination to boost Taiwan's exports, Liang has already fully booked his schedule through the end of this year. Among his plans are a trip to Hangzhou in China to promote Taiwan-made products at the Taiwan Trade Show to be held there soon, a trip to Beijing for a meeting, and a trip to New York for the opening of a newly completed exhibition hall for Taiwan products.
