TITAS 2017 Wraps Up with Exciting Turnout

Hosting 383 exhibitors from 11 countries manning 789 booths, 2017 Taipei Innovative Textile Application Show (TITAS), held by Taiwan Textile Federation and Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), rounded off with encouraging results: nearly 36,000 professional buyers attending and more than a thousand of procurement meetings held to jointly generate about US$65 million (NT$190 million) worth of business opportunities.

Many VIPs from several heavy-weight firms in Taiwan's textile industry namely, Douglas Hsu, the chairman of Taiwan's Far Eastern Group; Cheng-Hai Hung, the chairman of Eclat textile; Ray Lin, the chairman of Tex-Ray; Huang Zhuang Fangrong, general manager of New Wide Group; and Junming Huang; the chairman of Tri Ocean, visited the venue to show their supports .

Also notable is that at the opening ceremony, the hosts invited Taiwan's athletes including Ho-Chen Yang, a Taiwanese athletes who won three gold medals in roller sports; Kai-Kuei Hsu, a wushu gold medal winner at 2017 Summer Univsersiade; and; Chia-Hsin Lee, a badminton player from Taiwan who won the mixed-double gold medal at 2017 Summer Univsersiade; and Kevin Lin, the best known endurance athletes in Asia, to jointly hail the beginning of the show.

Chen-Tien Chan, the chairman of Taiwan Textile Federation (TTF), noted, Taiwan's textile industry has successfully transformed into a high-tech innovative industry, and Taiwan-made functional fabrics are used by many global well-known sports and outdoors brands. Aiming to assist Taiwan's athletes scoring better performance in each game, Taiwan's textile product makers will continue to improve their functional textile products.

On another front, with an aim to build a solid ground in the garment market covering segments of outdoors clothing, sportswear, leisure apparel, and fashion clothes, Taiwan's textile industry has been cooperating with international brands to develop sustainable eco-friendly policy with new innovative functional fabric application.

For example, working with Adidas, one of the best-known sportswear brands, Far Eastern Group, with the theme “Hello World, Were FENC”, exhibited its running shoes and sports T-shirts made of recycled textile; Eclat textile, meanwhile, showcased its latest knitted fabric themed “Intentional Knit”.

Noteworthily, the exhibition attracted a large number of visitors from numerous high-profile international breads such as Under Armour, The North Face, Burton, Lafuma, Burberry and etc.

TTF noted, TITAS 2018 will take place at Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center on Oct. 16th through 18th; with the supports from Bureau of Foreign Trade, and industries, TTF will continue to promote the competitiveness of Taiwan's textile industry, and help Taiwan textile manufacturers tap overseas markets.
