As a strategic move to tap the strong business potential of electric buses, Mobiletron Co., Ltd., a well-known supplier of auto transmission parts, has increased its shareholding to become a controlling shareholder in RAC Electric Vehicles Inc., Taiwan's leading EV (electric vehicle) maker.

On 28th Mar, Chairman Tsai noted that Mobiletron has gained over 50 percent of the stock of RAC Electric Vehicles. through integrating the resources of the two companies, Mobiletron will actively develop electric buses of its own while venturing into the market for auto electronics.

Mobiletron said, RAC's projects with other overseas company will go on. For instance, the MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) between RAC and Sumitomo Corporation, one of the largest worldwide Sogo shosha general trading companies located in Japan, for electric bus development will not be affected since the partnership is a positive factor for Mobiletron to promote its electric bus business. And notably, the firm's schedule to export its electric bus chassis and power modules to other countries will not be influenced either.

On 28th Mar., RAC unveiled its newly developed electric bus model. To further bolster the R&D edge of its new subsidiary, Chairman Tsai emphasized that RAC is Taiwan's leading electric bus maker in market share and is also the first firm that is certified by VSCC in Taiwan. Noteworthily, RAC is the only electric bus maker that is certified by Taiwan's Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MOTC) to self-develop electric buses. Also notable is that RAC is the domestic auto manufacturer with over 60 percent of added value.

Tsai further pointed out that, on highways, the newly developed electric bus is capable of running 400 kilometers under cruise control system. In summer, the bus can run 280 km with full load of passengers, while being capable of running 350 km full load in winter. With such a high battery endurance, Tsai is confident that its new products will meet drivers' needs.

Tsai added, EV has become a trend for the development of future transportation. The new electric bus, with its core technologies including chassis, body structure, power system, electric control system, etc. being developed by the RAC, is very likely to serve as the main growth engine for the firm in the EV market.
