MIRDC Signed MOU with Festo to Further Sharpen Technological Edge of Taiwan's Smart Manufacturing Industry

During the inauguration ceremony of Traditional Industry Innovation Center (TIIC), Taiwan's Metal Industries Research & Development Centre (MIRDC) in response to the rise of industrial 4.0 and smart manufacturing signed an MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) with Festo, in a bid to further upgrade the machine industry on the island.

Founded in 1925, Festo is a leading company that provides innovative solutions to industrial automation. The firm has been dedicated to offering pneumatic and electric drive solutions to its 300,000 customers worldwide. Through the cooperation this time, MIRCD and Festo plan to develop hard & software as well as related solutions to improve AI decision making and Machine to Machine technology systems.

Based on the abovementioned information technologies, both the parties will strive to develop newer smart manufacturing equipment, so as to provide global customers a more comprehensive solution, and to accelerate the development of Taiwan's smart manufacturing technology.

Lin Ren-yi, chairman of MIRDC, noted that in recent years, ever more manufacturing companies in Taiwan and other countries have been putting emphasis on the development of smart manufacturing, while actively promoting intelligent internet systems featuring innovative technologies, namely IoT (Internet of Thing), robots, big data analysis, etc. In light of the trends, MIRDC, with over 50 years of R&D experience, has been offering extensive technological solutions to the local manufacturing industry.

Notably, with the newly established Metal Intelligent Manufacturing Center, MIRDC also aims to strengthen the R&D power of Taiwan's smart manufacturing industry, while shortening the time required for industry upgrade, as well as boosting its competitive edges in the global market.
