CIER: March PMI sees slight decline, marks continuing 5-month growth

Chung-Hua Institution Economic Research (CIER) released Taiwan's PMI score for March on April 1, arriving at a 62.7 on its report card, and marking a five-month consecutive expansion momentum above 60.0. Though, March would also signify a two-month consecutive slight decline in terms of expansion, a drop of 0.5 index points.

Under CIER's PMI index, all five categories saw uptick trends, including new orders coming in, increasing production and hiring, faster delivery lead times from suppliers, and inventory expansion.

The six industries tied to the PMI index all saw expansion as well. The ranking is as follows: transportation tools (75.0%), electronic power and machinery equipment (71.6%), electronics and optical industries (71.4%), basic raw materials (66.9%), food and textiles (65.5%), and chemicals and biotech healthcare (59.8%)
