Taiwanese factories prepare for demand surge in SEA

2022/02/17 | By EDN

Entering its third year, the COVID-19 pandemic has caused a number of problems among Taiwanese factories operating in Southeast Asia as the countries there suffered through multiple outbreaks, leading to prolonged lockdowns or increased restrictions.

For TaiHan Precision Technology, the plastic injection benchmark company pointed out that the coronavirus appears to head towards the endemic stage, as Southeast Asian governments are set to gradually open up their borders. Local demand is highly forecasted to experience a significant boom as a result, as production lines are reopened, and see increased utilization rates. Local governments are also investing heavily into infrastructure, with expansion projects on a number of assembly plants.

The company's January consolidated revenue was NTD$184 million, an annual increase of 4.58%. TaiHan said that about 90% of the group's overall revenue comes from orders for products such as printers and multi-function printers. Online learning and home office lifestyles became the main proponent during the height of the pandemic and have continued to trend in many parts of the world, driving customers to purchase multi-function printers, etc. The demand for these products has gradually increased, coupled with the fact that the newly developed series of projectors, multifunctional business machines, Portable Devices, household appliances, and other products have maintained a certain level of momentum in shipments, creating a good overall production capacity utilization rate.
