TaipeiPLAS reopens after 4 years, CENS as bridge for buyers and suppliers alike

2022/09/29 | By Tingyu Chao

TaipeiPLAS and the concurrent ShoeTech Taipei return to Nangang Exhibition Center Hall 1 after four years in a hybrid manner on Sept. 27. This year's edition of the biennial show would mark the series' first since the COVID-19 pandemic officially broke out in 2020.

Both shows have gathered 300 exhibitors using 1,300 booths, coming from 12 countries and regions. From the upstream material suppliers to manufacturers, domestic and global big-name brands attended the industry-benchmark shows

The real-life show would mark the plastics and rubber industry's milestone in the post-pandemic era as the sector's first ever in the Asian region. TaipeiPLAS is also prioritizing the global movement and trend to achieve net zero and has focused the event on three themes: “Smart Machinery,” “New Generation Materials,” and “Circular Economy.”

Event organizer Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) Chairman James Huang said in his remarks at the opening ceremony, that plastics and rubber suppliers are especially aware of the implications of energy saving due to the net zero pledges. From upstream material development to mid, downstream manufacturing and processing, each segment of the production chain is seeking innovation and smart manufacturing to fulfill circular economy guidelines. Such innovative applications are set to be seen in areas like electric vehicles, high-end medical devices, aerospace satellites, and green construction materials.

Exhibitors like SFM are on the rise, offering solutions ranging from material suppliers, smart machinery, settings, or one-stop manufacturing processes, and aimed to reduce carbon emissions and achieve circular economy goals.

For instance, an exhibitor at the show, Silicon Future Manufacturing Company (SFM), is showcasing a newly developed composite material called “carbon nanotube” that offers three-axis strength capabilities, one axis more than the commonly-used graphene material, an SFM representative said.

Economic Daily News (CENS) is exhibiting at Booth I0024 to assist buyers in streamlining their procurement process and finding suitable suppliers. Buyers can request to obtain trade magazines exclusively published by CENS — Taiwan Machinery and Taiwan Industrial Suppliers (TIS) USB version , showcasing quality Taiwanese suppliers in both industries. Visiting buyers to the booth can also fill out CENS' business matchmaking details as another channel to explore potential opportunities.

Visiting domestic manufacturers have also approached CENS publication team requesting details regarding CENS' integrated marketing solutions to develop and diversify new marketing channels for optimal product exposure. The publication team said these companies are often looking for diverse products; for instance, some were looking for printing machines, and others were looking for raw material suppliers to work with.
