Jui Li Enterprise Co. Ltd., a leading maker of sheet-metal auto body parts in Taiwan, recently announced that it would soon set up a global jig and fixture warehouse in Southern Taiwan's Kaohsiung to strengthen its after-sales services.

Jui Li said that the project application had been okayed by the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA). The company plans to spend about NT$50 million (US$1.45 million at US$1:NT$34.5) to build the new warehouse, which will be located at a site previously rented from Taiwan Sugar Corp.

Jui Li has been expanding its global operations in recent years. Last year, the company set up a sheet-metal body parts plant in Hainan province, mainland China. The plant currently supplies original equipment (OE) products to automakers in Taiwan. Jui Li said that the Hainan plant is expected to have revenue of over NT$400 million (US$11.59 million) this year and post a profit of at least NT$40 million (US$1.16 million).

Jui Li president Lu Zui-huei said that his company is assessing the possibility of expanding production at the Hainan plant, hoping to win more OE business from automakers in the mainland Chinese market.

In Taiwan, Jui Li is the largest supplier of sheet-metal body parts used in the sport utility vehicle (SUV), minivan and Lancer sedan models made by China Motor Corp., the local partner of Mitsubishi Motors of Japan. Currently, Jui Li supplies at least 8,000 sets of sheet-metal body parts to local automakers per month.

Jui Li also distributes parts and mold/die products in the U.S. market through its New Jersey subsidiary, U-Land.

Lu claimed that the new jig/fixture warehouse would serve as his company's global jig/fixture and mold/die logistic center.

Lu said that his company would benefit from the trend among local automakers to set up auto-production plants or ventures overseas. The increasing number of Taiwan-designed car models in the international market, Lu explained, would help Jui Li expand sales in overseas markets.
