Taipei, Sept. 28, 2005 (CENS)--The ninth annual Taipei Innovative Textile Application Show (TITAS 2005, formerly known as Taipei International Textile & Apparel Show), will open tomorrow for a three-day run at the Taipei World Trade Center.

With the global quotas for textiles coming to an end since the beginning of 2005, the textile industry globally has entered into an era of completely open competition. Thus, the TITAS 2005 will take a vitally new position to provide global buyers with new strategies for sourcing textiles in Asia.

TITAS 2005, co-organized by Taiwan Textile Federation (TTF) and the government-backed Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), will focus on middle and upstream yarn and fabric products, emphasizing high-value-added functional textiles and evoking fashion trends that will make Taipei an ideal meeting place to bring together international manufacturers and branded lines.

TTF said it has invited many leading manufactures from at home and abroad to exhibit fibers, yarns and fabrics, and to introduce new products emerging from research and development in nanotechnology, bamboo charcoal, waterproofing and ventilation, plus many more new materials developed to fulfill specific functions in compliance with present industry trends.

A total of 281 exhibitors occupying 472 booths will showcase their newly developed technologies and innovative products at the TITAS this year. The percentage of each exhibit category is 37% for apparel textiles for fashion and functions, 15% for trimmings/fashion related products, 8% for filaments and yarns, 8% for textile inspection and certification, with the remainder coming from other sectors.

TTF noted exhibitors would display three-dimensional fabric designs in runway shows for a unique experience in new-fashion aesthetics. For instance, the fashion show to be held by Eclat Textile Co. will stress the latest trend in modern knitted fabrics. Everest Textile titles its fashion show as ‘Ultimate Innovator' to demonstrate functional textiles based on new concepts in human technology. Tai Yuen Textile will stage its latest products as ‘Fashion Party.'

TITAS 2005 will also feature seminars on the textile industry's newest trends, innovations and concepts. Lecture topics will be focused on R&D, environmental protection, design, marketing, brand marketing, and social relations, etc. Distinguished speakers include Allen A. Terhaar, executive director of Cotton Council International; H.J. Hubner, CEO of the well-known textiles manufacturers Schoeller Textile AG, Brad Beal, vice president of Jockey International.

TTF said it has received positive responses from more than 70 international buyers representing major brands, importers and apparel manufacturers, including Reebok, Polo Ralph Lauren, Champion, Dewhirst Group Plc., Mauoral, Adolfo Dominguez, Miroglio Vestebene, Stefanel, Loto, Adidas, Puma, Chiemsee, Toni Gard, L-Fashion Group Oy, Tomen, Itochu, etc.
