Taipei, June 1, 2005 (CENS)--U.S. memory-module supplier PDP Systems Inc. will open its Asia-Pacific headquarters in Taiwan to enhance its ties with Taiwanese dynamic random access memory (DRAM) chipmakers, the company's executives announced yesterday at the Computex computer trade show in Taipei.

The company's chief executive officer, Paul Jones, and its chief finance officer, Doug Diggs, will fly to Taipei to celebrate the opening. Executives from heavyweight DRAM chipmakers including Samsung Electronics and Hynix Semiconductor will attend the opening ceremony.

Jones pointed out that the Taiwan facility would act as its parent company's base in the Asia-Pacific region for dealing with manufacturing, procuring and marketing DRAM modules and flash-memory chips. In near future, the company will promote its Patriot Memory-branded products in the region through the Taiwan arm.

PDP Taiwan's executives pointed out that PDP had put its Patriot Memory products at over 100 retailers throughout the world. They added that in the Asia-Pacific region the Patriot Memory products would target do-it-yourself fans as its major customers.

Another meaning behind the establishment of the headquarters is that PDP hopes to secure steady DRAM supplies from Taiwan's chipmakers including PowerChip Semiconductor Corp. and ProMos Technologies Inc.

PDP, Kingston and Smart Module are among the largest memory-module suppliers in the United States. PDP was set up in 1985 and was equipped with DRAM-module manufacturing capability in 1990.
